Voting has always been pitched to us as the way in which we have our say, a way we can have our voices heard and a means by which we can bring about societal and political change. 
But if voting really worked would they allow us to do it? For my American listeners you are smack bang in the middle of your upcoming election. Yet you have something we Aussies don't have, the right to engage or not. That's right for Aussies like my guest and I we are mandated to vote, it is a compulsory "civic duty". 
Recently Wade has had to do just that. Queensland has just had a state election with some status quo changing outcomes. To help me discuss the Queensland election results I am joined by the Tropical Canadian himself, my mate and yours, Wade.

The Burbs (Breakdown)

Welcome back for another episode of You're Missen the Point Podcast. Today I have a fantastic collaboration with Julia from the Cosmic Peach Podcast. That's right Julia and I are back with another childhood favourite film breakdown of the 1989 dark comedy, thriller 'The Burbs'.
The Burbs written by Dana Olsen, directed by Joe Dante tells the story of a typical American neighbourhood, when new neighbours come to live in the house next to Ray Peterson (Tom Hanks). These new people are really strange, bobby has ever seen them, their house is a complete mess, and during the night weird noises keep coming from their basement.
The only thing they know is their name "Kopek". One day Walter (an elderly man from the neighbourhood) suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances. Ray begins to question the Klopek's involvement while friend and fellow neighbour Art (Rick Ducommun) is convinced that the new family on the block is part of a murderous Satanic cult.
Julia and I will continue to breakdown our childhood favourites in the coming months, watch this space! Last breakdown was all about dark magic and witchcraft! We started off this episode sharing our general thoughts about The Burbs and how it made its way in as a favourite childhood film.

Christian Conspiracy Coalition (Online Censorship, Free Speech and Modern Day Pulpits)

Welcome back for another episode of Christian Conspiracy Coalition. A place where the best minds in the conspiracy realm gather to share and discuss their faith, Christianity and the spiritual war thrust upon humanity.
All across the Western World governments are deliberately and systematically targeting free speech and the ability to express one's own opinions. In an age where the state is all too enthusiastic to curtail our speech and thoughts what does that mean for us as Christians?
For most of us who are paying attention this has been a long-time coming, yet in recent years the acceleration of this agenda has truly been horrifying. I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about this rapidly evolving changes to speech and information sharing online. 
Yet no matter how anxious or worried I get over this impending Orwellian censorship I find solace in Deuteronomy 31:6 which states, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you, he will never leave you nor forsake you".

Conspiracy Theatre 3000 - Episode 19: Heavy Metal (Commentary)

"A shadow shall fall over the universe, and evil will grow in its path, and death will come from the skies". 
ConspiracyTheatre 3000 is back with another commentary episode. That's right the guys got together to watch the 1981 animated cult classic Heavy Metal. This one is a childhood classic of Bob's and a regular on Ryan's rotation. Ashamedly enough this is one Drew has not seen until today! This is a great hangout and banter episode between the guys.
(Don't forget you can always listen along as you watch Heavy Metal at home). 
Heavy Metal is a 1981 adult animation, sci-fi fantasy film divided into a series of animated vignettes dealing with science fiction themes. All the stories are connected by a green glowing orb (The Loc-Nar) meant to represent "the sum of all evils", which is first seen floating through space before the movie's title appears.
It begins with an astronaut that brings home a glowing green orb for his daughter. However, the green orb wipes him out and corners the girl for its purposes. Claiming to embody ultimate evil, the malevolent sphere, known as the Loc-Nar, terrorizes the little girl by showing a series of bizarre and fantastic stories it has influenced.
The first is "Harry Canyon", a cynical taxi driver in a squalid futuristic New York who finds himself involved with a damsel in distress who is relentlessly pursued by murderous thugs who desire the Loc-Nar her archaeologist father found.
The second is "Den", which chronicles the adventures of a nerdish teenager who is thrown into the fantasy world of Neverwhere, where he is transformed into a handsome muscleman, desired by beautiful women, who must get involved in a conflict revolving around possession of the Loc-Nar.
The third is "Captain Sternn", where the title character is a handsome but irredeemable scoundrel who stands accused in a trial that the Loc-Nar throws into chaos.
The fourth is "B-17", where a World War II bomber plane limps home after a bombing run, only to have the Loc-Nar ram into it and revive the dead crew members as murderous zombies. The next is "So Beautiful, So Dangerous", where a voluptuous secretary at the Pentagon is abducted by stoned alien wastrels and an oversexed robot.
The final story is "Taarna", where the Loc-Nar has to come to a future Earth and changes a peaceful people into a horde of murderous barbarians who rampage with genocidal zeal. Only the last Tarrakian, a silent warrior woman known as Taarna, can avenge the victims and stop the Loc-Nar.
The driving force behind this film is a classic tale good overcoming evil. Driven by its toughness and nihilistic nature, this animated feature is off on its own track, combining science fiction, mysticism, sex, violence and rock music. Much of the time, these elements do what the film makers want them to, and make for a heady mix.

Christian Conspiracy Coalition (Did Jesus Christ Exist?)

This concept when combined with terms such as "history is written by the victor" it is easy to see why one of the most hotly debated topics is the historical existence of Jesus Christ. This is a topic that theologians, historians and scholars have been debating for hundreds of years but this specific episode comes as a reaction to another podcast.
